For Archaeologists and many occupants of the land we now call Illinois, one of the most enduring symbols is the image of a creature long referred to as the “Piasa”. The Piasa is a term which has been used for decades to represent various iconography across the midcontinent. However, the truth of this tale has been building for over a century. Join ISM Director of Tribal Relations Logan Pappenfort as he deconstructs the various modern-day stories surrounding the Piasa, and how that narrative has been misinterpreted from its origins.
Taste of ISM celebrates the work and passion of the team of the Illinois State Museum. You’re invited to join us for a lunch and learn style program where you’ll hear stories about art, history, science, and the magical world of museums. You are welcome to bring your lunch to eat during the program, but lunch is not provided.
This program will take place in-person at the ISM Research and Collection Center. This program will also be streamed over Zoom at https://bit.ly/TasteISMNov6. For more information, please contact [email protected] or (217) 782-5955.
