About this Event
If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air, quaint little villages here and there, then this Taste of Cape Cod is the class for you. Join food writer and author of Discover Cape Cod Shawnie Kelley as she walks you through the hands-on process of making lobster rolls, beginning with boiling and removing meat from the tail, and whipping up a classic Maine-style preparation on a buttery bun. Shawnie’s original recipe for brothy clam chowder loaded with clams, potatoes and topped with bacon crumbles will become a staple in your kitchen. As for dessert, all you need is a little bit of time and ice cream to make it happen! Blueberry buckle is a traditional New England coffee cake-like dessert topped with streusel. Learn the difference between buckle (when the batter buckles around the berries), cobbler, crumble, crisp, and slump. Discussion includes food traditions on the Cape.
