Jezmina Von Thiele, author of Secrets of Romani Fortune Telling, will lead you through the cultural and historical context of tarot and other forms of divination as survival trades for the Romani people, and through a series of prompts and exercises, guide you through techniques for enhancing your tarot practice from a Romani perspective. If you have a tarot deck, bring it along, but there will be a few extras on-hand if you don’t have one. Whether you are a seasoned tarot or palm reader, or a total novice with no experience, this night is for you, because we are using tarot as a tool for connecting with your intuition and critical thinking. Afterwards, Jezmina will offer short tarot or palm readings for $20 cash or venmo, and you can also purchase a book or get one signed. Books are $18.95, cash or venmo. If you purchase them together, you can get both for $35.
Viktor Pachas, international Flamenco-fusion performer based in Boston, will be joining us to add musical accompaniment with his guitar.

Note: Roma, or the Romani people, refers to the Indian diasporic ethnic group more commonly known by the slur/misnomer “Gypsies.” Some Roma reclaim this word with pride, and others don’t but we ask that gadje, non-Romani people, do not appropriate it. Fortune telling is just one of many survival trades that the Roma have relied on over centuries of persecution since leaving India and traveling west circa the 10th century.
