We are thrilled to announce that Canadian singer/songwriter Tara MacLean will return to Winterjazz on Jan 25th 2025. MacLean is an internationally renowned and award winning recording and touring artist. She’s written and recorded 8 solo albums and two with her band Shaye. She recently received the Senate of Canada medal for her work in her community as well as the SOCAN songwriter of the year award. She released her memoir in 2023, Song of the Sparrow with HarperCollins, as well as the corresponding soundtrack. It was an instant best seller.
A playwright, author, zen student and poet, Tara resides in her home province of PEI and Salt Spring Island BC Canada. She is currently writing a new book and album and planning a UK/EU tour in 2025.
Anchoring the Winterjazz concert series for season 17 is the house band of Deryl Gallant, Glen Strickey, Ian Toms, and Max Gallant. The members of this group have worked with countless artists, featured on many recordings, and have won dozens of awards in the music industry.
The concert will take place at the Pourhouse, above the Old Triangle in Charlottetown. Admission for the show is $30 (cash-only) with a portion of the proceeds going to an annual scholarship for Island students entering a jazz program.
