Embark on a captivating 9-days art retreat with Nicholle Kobi, traveling from Dar-es-Salam to Zanzibar, where creativity meets culture in the heart of Tanzania.
To take my mind off things, stimulate my creativity, and get away from the digital creative landscape for a bit, I started keeping a travel journal. It's my personal space where I can relax and find inspiration. So far, my journal has accompanied me to Brazil, South Africa, the United States, and the island of Zanzibar, and now I would like you to join me in Tanzania for a new adventure.

Combining urban exploration with peaceful mountain and seaside retreats, this trip invites you to sketch, observe, and be inspired by the vibrant contrasts of Swahili life in Tanzania. Explore Dar es Salaam like a local with its efficient activities combining East Africa, the Indian Ocean, and the beach, and discover the authenticity of the place.

Whether you are a seasoned artist or someone who enjoys expressing your creativity, this trip is all about creativity, encounters, and adventure.
Start with a dynamic exploration of Dar es Salaam, discover the iconic island of Zanzibar, and immerse yourself in Tanzania's Swahili culture in Dar es Salaam and on a safari in the Arusha Mountains. All these places are perfect for telling visual stories and finding inspiration for your characters. You will be able to observe and capture the expressions of the Maasai and wild animals amid the snows of Kilimanjaro.

ITINERARY
Days 1/2/3: Arrival in Dar es Salaam
On your first full day in Dar es Salaam, you will depart in the morning (by private minibus) to explore Dar es Salaam. During your trip to Dar es Salaam, discover Tanzania's largest city and economic center, also known locally as “Dar.” With a population of 5.5 million, it is one of the fastest-growing cities in Africa. During your stay, explore the old colonial buildings, meet the locals at the fish market, and enjoy magnificent sunsets.
Days 3/4/5: Zanzibar
Breakfast is served à la carte on site.
Pili Pili Sun Beach offers bike rental service. Sunset cruise on a yacht (Walkabout-50ft Voyage Yacht) in Nungwi Bay.-Scuba diving, snorkeling—August is the best time for water sports in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, as well as for relaxing and unwinding. It's also a great time to discover the island's rich culture, with its Arabic, Indian, and African influences visible in Stone Town, among other places! The so-called “city of stones” is full of churches, mosques, and temples...
If you're more into hiking and nature, then you absolutely must discover the local wildlife in the Jozani Forest or while crossing the Mara River! A cruise aboard a traditional dhow such as the Safari Blue and dolphin watching in Kizimkazi 🐬 are absolute musts! As you continue reading this post, you may find other activities that interest you.
Days 6/7: Arusha

You will be walking 10 minutes to the welcome dinner at a local Tanzanian Restaurant. Your meal will typically be a set menu with water included. Additional food and beverages will be at your own expense.*Please note that Tanzanian cuisine frequently uses ingredients with animal products and/or gluten.
