About the Artist:
Tanya Herrera began her fascination with art as a young child growing up in the Bay Area she was heavily influenced by arts and crafts at home and the museums, theaters and symphonies in San Francisco. Herrera experimented with traditional mediums from middle school into college, always asking "what else is there?". Herrera's work as pyrographer and heat artist began in 2009 by trying to make an impression of a stencil on wood. Now after exploring many forms of pyrography and heat art over the course of nearly 15 years, mediums include burning on wood, leather and bone as well as heat molded vinyl records and gilding. This past 2 years Tanya officially began teaching and experimenting with Painting on Bone and using her 30+ medium knowledge to create a installation especially for Open Studios attendees, you don't want to miss it!
