June 23- "Nuanced Navigation"- Whether you have plenty of space to move, or are on a tight floor, the idea is to keep your dance interesting and to keep moving! We will explore various useful and musical possibilities to help you make your way around the floor skillfully. Courtney Stiles assisting
June 30- "Parada Possibilities"- This traditional "stop", usually is followed by a pasada, or "pass". Let's think outside the box while we increase your parada vocabulary and get super connected and playful in the process. Mary Morgan assisting
July 7- "Deep Sacada Technique"- Clean technique is crucial to execute this dynamic movement well. Let's dive in and get precise, then find some fun and creative ways to include more sacadas in your dance. Mike Eblen assisting
*Technique, as well as possibilities to be interactive and co creative will be incorporated into each of these workshops, for both leaders and followers*
These workshops are intentionally in an order as to build as we progress, using skills and technique that can be applied to the next. Although I am offering an option to attend a la carte, I do highly recommend taking them all as a series. No partner is required, but it is optimal, of course, if we are role balanced. Try to bring a partner to help have a balanced group. I will also be encouraging change of partners throughout the series.
Karen Jaffe lives near Asheville, NC. In her 25+ years of Tango she has supported dancers and communities through offering countless classes and social dances along with organizing dozens of full weekend events with exceptional guest teachers. She travels extensively to continue her own education and to teach, DJ and perform. In her many years of study with numerous masters she continues to evolve both as a dancer and a teacher. She is known for her skilled, engaging, and musical dancing in both roles, and for her easygoing, fun and playful energy. She is currently on a break from touring the US with her Argentine partner Tate Di Chiazza.
