The perfect place to expand your Tango journeyPrerequisites:
Dancers should be able to walk in partnership, have familiarity with the 8 count basic, and the concept of leading or following ochos. These concepts do not need to feel "perfect", just be familiar with them. If you aren't sure which class is right for you, please reach out to Kate. 520.609.2159
Learning Objectives in this class:
Tango Structure:
Posture, embrace, walking, and core concepts of lead and follow will be reviewed and encouraged throughout this course.
Tango Figures:
At every class, we highlight a tango "technique of the week". Each class begins with a warm-up and an exercise relating to the movement we will be using in our figure of the week. Our tango figures are musical, practical, dance-floor friendly, and are developed with consideration to the line of dance and the flow of the other dancers.
Tango Music:
We will play a variety of music in class, including traditional tango, vals, and possibly other styles of tango.
Tango Connection:
The word "connection" can seem very abstract and hard to explain, although for many, and it is something we seek when we dance. A good connection can make the difference between a mediocre dance and a memorable one. Our goal is to demystify this term and work with you to tap into your partner's movement, whether you are dancing as a lead or follow role.
