Learn about the history of The Treaty of Waitangi, colonisation in New Zealand, and the role the Treaty plays in New Zealand society today.
About this Event

This one day workshop is an introduction to the Treaty of Waitangi, come and explore a key element of our history with this intensive introduction to the topic of Te Tiriti O Waitangi. The programme covers:

* Why the Treaty came about

* What terms the signatories agreed to

* The history of colonisation in this country and it's impacts

* The relevance of the Treaty in Aotearoa today

* How we can connect to the Treaty relationship as people of different backgrounds and cultures in Aotearoa

No prior knowledge is necessary, all welcome. The programme is interactive and participatory and is run by tauiwi facilitators.
