Tambour work is a fascinating technique used for bead embroidery (also known as French embroidery beading) as well as decorative chain stitch embroidery. Needlework techniques such as Couching and goldwork were historically used to decorate priestly gowns. However, these days, they are often employed to add fascinating, luxurious, and highly elaborate details to textiles.This is a two week course, 2 and 9 of November, 10:30-14:30.
This presents a wonderful opportunity to learn
how to use a tambour hook or engage in goldwork embroidery in a small group class. You can choose the technique that you'd like to learn with us.
If you select Tambour Hook embroidery, you will learn:
- How to set up a tambour embroidery hook.
- How to cast on and off basic stitches.
- How to add beads and sequins.
- How to prepare your design and adjust it on the fabric.
If you opt for Goldwork, you will learn:
- How to design your pattern.
- How to use specialist threads and tools.
- Simple couching stitches.
- Simple couching pattern stitches.
- How to position the thread on your fabric.
The small workshop size ensures valuable one-on-one time with the instructor and fellow participants, allowing for maximum engagement and assistance.
