The Tamborine Mountain Scarecrow Festival is an annual event that involves touring a trail of 200+ unique scarecrow creations situated at various locations all over the mountain.The Scarecrow Festival has been growing in popularity since it first began in 2008 and gives local residents, school students, community groups and business owners the opportunity to build and exhibit a scarecrow in the hope of winning prizes.
Every year on the last weekend in October, those taking part offer their own interpretation of the scarecrow in a variety of settings. Soon, scarecrows of all shapes and sizes begin to appear propped beside farm gates, greeting students at the school fence or standing by a local business's main entrance.
The scarecrows take on many forms and certainly reflect the creative leanings of this diverse and eclectic mountain top community. They can be created from many different materials and the results magical.
Thanks to the residents efforts, visitors enjoy following the Scarecrow Trail and see over 200 scarecrows. They also enjoy the Mountain's many cafes, shops, art galleries and wineries along the way.
