This three day intensive workshop will be June 6-7-8, 2025, from 10am to 5pm daily with an hour break for lunch. There will be guest teachers for an hour each day to teach about Afro Louisiana culture, dance and music. The weekend will include technique, culture, dance philosophy, and much more. Tamalyn will teach 10am-1pm, break for lunch and resume at 2pm daily for an experiential workshop by a different local New Orleans culture bearer each day, each with something unique to share. From 3-5, Tamalyn will continue with raqs sharqi.
We will experience optional evenings of New Orleans cuisine, jazz, and other events that will be happening in town. Come, ready to immerse yourself in two worlds; Raqs Sharqi and the unique world that is New Orleans, as well as a Saturday evening pot luck dinner at Tamalyn's home where we will perform for one another (and any friend or partner who may be traveling with you). This will be a supportive atmosphere for all.
