Tamale Party! In this class, students will learn how to prepare 2 kinds of filling & masa for making pork and vegetarian tamales. They will also participate in wrapping and steaming their own delicious little bundles to take home. Domenica will also share general tips and inspiration for making other varieties and individually freezing tamales to enjoy any time.
Domenica Queen is a Hispappalachian (Hispanic & Appalachian) artist and home cook. She loves to share home-cooked dishes with her friends and community & believes in the power of a good meal made with love. Her cooking is influenced broadly by her upbringing in a multicultural family. Her dishes are a mix of Catalan cooking, Mexican dishes from her mother’s side of the family & Appalachian foodways from growing up in West Virginia. She especially focuses on everyday, delicious, accessible foods that are made with readily available ingredients and most commonly prepared in home kitchens. Cooking with friends and swapping skills is something she often facilitates; gathering people for pantry stocking parties & recipe swaps. Food is friendship, community & heritage—all things we can enjoy together.
Spaces are limited, so pre-registration is required.
