Tasting of premium Tamagawa sake guided by the first non-Japanese Toji (Mater Sake Brewer), Philip Harper
About this Event

We invite you to join us on Sunday, December 11th for a personally guided tasting with Philip Harper, the Toji of Tamagawa sake fame. Noriko and I have just returned from a visit to Kinoshita brewery where Philip is the Master Sake Brewer (Toji). We have brought back 6 kinds of Tamagawa sake personally selected by Philip to share with you. While there we recorded a video of Philip as he reveals his insights and pairing suggestions for each sake.

Philip has gained fame for his unique sake and approach to (unpasteurized sake) known as nama sake. Each sake will be served at the temperature recommended by Philip (chilled, room temperature, warm, hot). His unorthodox approach to sake is highlighted with each of the sake and the temperatures he has selected for them. We have gathered his suggested food pairings and will also be serving them with each sake.

The Tamagawa sake we will be serving are;

  • Kinsho Daiginjo "Heart of Gold"
  • Junmai Ginjo Muroka Nama Genshu "Omachi"
  • Junmai Muroka Nama Genshu "Free Flow" - only available at the brewery
  • Yamahai Junmai Muroka Nama Genshu "Red Label"
  • Tokubetsu Junmai
  • Junmai Kimoto "Time Machine"

Seating is limited to two sessions, once they are gone there will be no more.

First seating: 2:00-4:00 pm with only 30 seats available

Second seating: 4:30-6:30 pm with only 30 seats available

This truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to taste several of the sake including ones only available in Japan and hear from the legend himself about each of them.
