Baltazar Brito Guadarrama tiene un doctorado en Estudios Mesoamericanos de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Se especializa en códices, historia del Nueva España y bibliografía mexicana. Es autor de varios artículos y aproximadamente 20 libros, entre ellos: El Códice Azoyú 2, El Tonalámatl de Aubin, Huexotzingo: cuatro siglos de historia, Lienzo de Tlaxcala y México gentil, católico y político. Ha recibido los premios Francisco Javier Clavijero y Raúl Guerrero, ambos otorgados por el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, Meexico (INAH). Desde 2013 es director de la Biblioteca Nacional de Antropología de México y Coordinador de Historia y Archivos Nacionales del mismo instituto. Es nivel II dentro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores; forma parte del Consejo Asesor del Archivo General de la Nación; es Vicepresidente del Comité de la Memoria del Mundo en México y forma parte del consejo editorial de diferentes instituciones y revistas.
