Eric Kaiser (born Eric Vaughn; September 9, 1970), better known by his stage name K-Rino, is an American rapper and record producer from Houston, Texas. Kaiser is the founder of the South Park Coalition, a collective of hip hop artists primarily based in Houston. He is a pioneer of the Southern hip hop scene and has been rapping since 1986 when he debuted with his group Real Chill. Kaiser has spent his entire career as an independent artist and has released all of his albums since 2004 on his label Black Book International.
Kaiser was born on September 9, 1970. He was raised in the South Park neighborhood of Houston, Texas. Kaiser's stage name K-Rino is a nickname he has been known by since childhood.[1]
Kaiser began rapping in 1983. While attending Sterling High School, he developed his skills by rap battling fellow students. In 1986, while still a high school student, Kaiser released his first single, "Rockin' It", as a member of the group Real Chill. The single was funded by Kaiser's father, Larry Vaughn, and released on local independent label Boomtown Stars.[1]
In 1986, Kaiser rap battled Ganksta NIP, but both were unable to beat each other and called the battle a draw. As a result, they developed a bond with each other and their crews formed together to create what would later become known as the South Park Coalition.[1]
