ABC is delighted to welcome Venerable Steve Carlier, a senior FPMT registered teacher, to give talks on karma and Vajrayana Buddhism, to help clear up misconceptions about these two important topics that are prone to be misunderstood. Venerable Steve is also the English translator for ABC’s Madhyamakavatara (Entering the Middle Way) class taught by Khen Rinpoche Geshe Chonyi online.
The details of the talks are as follows:

28 April 2024 (Sun) 2pm – 3.30pm
Does everything operate on the basis of the law of karma (cause and effect)? If so, does it mean that we should adopt a fatalistic view of life and simply “accept our destiny”? Why do we observe at times that those who do harm do not suffer negative consequences while those who do good do not experience positive results? Join us in this talk to find out the answers to these questions and more, on this topic that is at the core of Buddhism in guiding our thinking and actions.

5 May 2024 (Sun) 2pm – 3.30pm
“Vajrayana Buddhism is the easy path that requires less effort.” “It is the swift path that allows us to skip over most of the stages of the path.” “It is a completely separate tradition from Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism.” These are statements that we have heard, but how valid are they? Join us in this talk as we learn to separate fact from fiction and gain a clearer understanding of Vajrayana Buddhism.
