About this Event
Talk.Protect.Report.™️ is an evidence-informed Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) Prevention Program developed by the Traverse Bay Children's Advocacy Center (TBCAC). This robust training will equip you with the tools every adult needs to be an effective advocate for kids. Participants will walk away knowing how to:
TALK
- talk about the prevalence of CSA to better understand the issue at a regional and national level.
- talk about the issue of CSA in a trauma-informed manner
- empower healthy sexual development by talking to children about body safety, consent, and healthy relationships in a child-centered and developmentally-appropriate manner
PROTECT
- identify signs of grooming behaviors and boundary violating behaviors to prevent CSA
- understand the harmful effects of explicit media content & pornography on child development.
- evaluate creative safety planning and risk reduction solutions in situations where CSA is likely to occur
- respond appropriately and honestly if a child makes a disclosure of CSA
REPORT
- make a report of suspected child abuse or neglect to the cooresponding agencies/authorities
- understand the process and protections as anyone choosing to make a confidential report to Centralized Intake
- understand the importance of reporting abuse or neglect when it is suspected
It should be noted that this program is intended for ADULTS ONLY, as the content can be heavy and is not censored for invidiuals under the age of 18.
