Come to The John Peel Centre in Stowmarket for the second installment of Stephen Foster's 'Talking Music' series - this time with legendary singer-songwriter Charlie Dore, talking about her lifetime of sharp observation, emotional intelligence and musical craft and also performing some of her many songs.One of the UK’s most respected and quietly influential songwriters, Charlie Dore is known for one of the great radio records - Pilot Of The Airwaves. At a recent radio show in Suffolk she dedicated the song to Stephen Foster who will be chatting to Charlie about her eventful career which began in the 1970s.
Charlie has written songs recorded by artists as wide-ranging as Tina Turner, George Harrison, Céline Dion, Martha Wainwright, Ricky Ross and Paul Carrack. She loves songwriting but says “I still have the touring bug, in spades.”
Charlie’s recent accolades include Female Vocalist of the Year (FATEA) and Best Lyrics (US Indie Acoustic). Her live shows continue to draw devoted listeners alongside new audiences discovering her for the first time.
