About this Event
Building from a simple invitation to think through what making means to him, Mathew will talk about the spectrum between experimentation and application and the challenges that arise when the practice of creating buildings is fragmented across a kaleidoscopic range of specialisms, and operates within a complex regulatory framework which makes experimentation very difficult.
He'll talk about where hands on making sits in Assemble's history and current practice, and will discuss projects they have developed around infrastructures of making (like Blackhorse Workshop and Granby Workshop), as well as more conventional projects for a range of clients (including Luma Atelier, Art on the Underground and The Blue) where making has been a component on different scales.
