The mental health and well being of young people has never been under more scrutiny and is a matter of concern for many parents.
When our children face exams, the levels of stress in the household can increase dramatically and it is often hard for parents to watch their young person struggle, and know what to do for the best to help and support them through this difficult period.
Increasingly parents are asking for support in helping their children with issues around stress and anxiety, particularly at times of pressure such as exam season. Our workshop is a response to that need.
Run by highly experienced facilitators, counsellors and parenting practitioners, this workshop will help parents to understand:
- The science of stress
- Why appropriate stress can help us
- When does stress become a problem
- Helping our teenagers manage their own stress
- Preventing stress from building up
- Responding to a stressed teen during exam periods
- helping young people to understand what they can do to reduce stress during exams
- How to support your child after their exam
The Supporting Links ethos is to help parents to use new knowledge and strategies within their own families and, thereby, support their young person now and as they develop important stress management skills for the future.
There will be ample opportunity to ask questions.
The workshop will take place in the The Main Hall and is suitable for all parents and carers of pupils of all years at Dame Alice Owen's School.
Please note that the payment is due on completion of this registration, is and non-refundable regardless of attendance.
We offer a limited number of subsidised places for parents/carers in receipt of Universal Credit or for those families in receipt of free school meals or Pupil Premium.
