About this Event
John Kayongo about The forgotten role of East African dance
This special talk presents the forgotten role of East African dance in celebrating African spirituality.
John Kayongo is not only an experienced dancer: he is also anthropologist and he did research in East and Central African villages. In his talk he goes back to the role of dance before colonialisation, and relates his findings to dance in modern times.
His anthropology research was inspired by the publication “Spirit Mediumship and Society in Africa” by John Beattie and John Middleton.
This event is English spoken and hosted by Colins Opiyo.
During this event we’ll serve Kenian coffee, ginger tea and Kenian beer.
