Sunkoo Yuh is professor of art at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia, Athens. He earned his MFA at New York State College of Ceramics, Alfred (1997), and his BFA at Seoul’s Hongik University (1988). He has held residencies at the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena, Montana (2018); John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin (2014); and the Ceramic Creative Center at South Korea’s Clayarch Gimhae Museum (2013), to name a few. His work has been exhibited at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Alabama (2019); Seoul Museum of Art (2017); and Clayarch Gimhae Museum (2013), among many other venues. Yuh has also participated in France’s International Biennale of Vallauris (2016) and the Renwick Craft Invitational 2009, Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC. He was awarded the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant in 2005 and won the Grand Prize at South Korea’s 2nd World Ceramic Biennale 2003, Icheon, among many other awards.
