Join us for a fun packed Saturday night with our band Talk of the Village (formerly Dean and Co) at The Three Horseshoes Church Street Peterborough PE4 6QE. Well known folk and traditional songs/tunes and other loved toe tapping, sing your heart out melodies.
Decades on the road we love playing together: Dean on guitar and vocals, Al on bass and vocals, Jen on folk drum (bodhran), Mel on banjo, Shelley on flute, and yours truly Dawn on the fiddle.
We have played in many venues round Lincolnshire and we are now hitting Peterborough. We recently played at the Yard of Ale which was a great success and appeared on the Doc Mason Radio Show.

Here is our biography:
Dean Hardy and Talk of the Village has been on the circuit for nearly two decades. It was born way back in 2005 when Dean Hardy, the inspiration behind the band, was one of a group of thirty odd musicians who played regularly in sessions at the Mason’s Arms in Bourne. He eventually selected four of them to join him on a journey called Dean & Co. Over the years the band made a veritable name for itself in the area as the sing-a-long folk juke box, their repertoire including classics such as The Wild Rover, Whisky in the Jar, Black Velvet Band, Dirty Old Town and many more.
Today there remains the core of the dedicated and long standing members from way back, charismatic Dean himself on guitar and lead vocals, the dynamic Jen Hardy on bodhran (folk drum), the brilliant and cool Al Marshall on bass, and the unstoppable Mel Stopper on his trusty banjo. More recently, the lively fiddle player Dawn Birch-James (Dawn the Fiddle) and Shelley Wilson talented flautist and vocalist joined the band.
In 2024, Dean & Co became Dean Hardy and Talk of the Village. The band still plays all the old favourites lapped up by packed venues, but now includes increasingly new arrangements and original mash ups of great folk songs and tunes including Raggle Taggle Gypsy inspired by the Waterboys, and The Week before Easter inspired by the brilliant Peter Knight’s Gigspanner.
