In this talk, Kent historian Steve Bird will look at the build up to the raid from both the British and Dutch sides; the highly dramatic days of the raid itself and then the aftermath during which the Dutch fleet casually cruised in the Channel before equally casually anchoring off Plymouth. We will meet some of the amazing characters involved on both sides and see how they reacted as events unfolded. What evidence of the raid exists in Kent today?
