The discovery of the grave of King Richard III in 2012 raised new and interesting questions. How could such a diminutive person, suffering from a significant spinal condition, have excelled in armoured combat? How could he have even worn armour? What might the King's armour have looked like, and why was it so important that he personally led his knights into battle? In this illustrated talk, Dr Toby Capwell discusses his work on several reconstructions of King Richard's martial apparatus, especially for Channel 4's Richard III: The New Evidence and the feature film The Lost King.
He also explores his contributions to the Greyfriars project and the reburial procession in 2015, as one of two armoured horsemen escorting the King's remains from Bosworth Battlefield to their final resting place in Leicester Cathedral.
Doors open at 6.30pm and refreshments will be served after the talk.
