PIEAS Society for Physics is pleased to announce that Prof. Muhammad Suhail Zubairy, from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas A&M University, will be visiting PIEAS for a talk titled “Can We Reverse Decoherence?”.Prof. Zubairy is one of the most distinguished physicists in quantum optics and quantum information. His pioneering work on quantum computing, quantum entanglement, and decoherence has significantly shaped the modern understanding of quantum systems. He co-authored the renowned textbook "Quantum Optics" with Marlan O. Scully, a foundational text used in graduate programs worldwide. Besides this, he has also written "Quantum Mechanics for Beginners" and "A Mysterious Universe" — books admired for their clarity and depth in explaining complex ideas.
According to ScholarGPS (2024), Prof. Zubairy is ranked 24th worldwide in Quantum Optics (Lifetime), placing him among the top 0.05% of researchers globally — a recognition of both his productivity and the lasting impact of his research.
