We're delighted that Andy Briggs, co-founder of Space Oddities weekly podcast, is able to join us remotely from Spain to give us a talk on gravitational waves, entitled "Listening to the Underverse: Gravitational-Wave Astronomy".In this talk, Andy Briggs looks at the new science of gravitational-wave astronomy. How did scientists and engineers achieve the seemingly impossible and detect these tiny ripples in spacetime, which promise to answer some fundamental questions about the Universe? What have they discovered, and where is the science headed in the future?
Tickets are £5.00 for non-members, £2.50 for students, free for accompanied young people, and free for Bath Astronomers members.
Doors open at 7:15pm. The event commences at 7:30pm with an introduction and update of what is going on in Bath Astronomers and the night sky before introducing the speaker.
