Tonight we will have an illustrated talk about the Mulberry harbours that were designed, constructed and towed to France in just over 2 years. They were a major component in the success of the June 1944 D Day landings. Bombardons and Phoenixes were components of the Mulberry's which were sunk to the sea bed for concealment before D-Day and then pumped out to rise again to the surface to be towed to France. It is an incredible story, of huge national and international significance and major local interest. A collection will be held during the evening in support of Pauline's chosen charity so please bring along your cash or card.Speaker: Pauline Crump (MG)
