This experience combines a behind the scenes tour, led by our expert guides, throughout the museum galleries; allowing guests to delve deeper into our extraordinary collection; an interactive gun drill using a full-scale replica Tudor gun; followed by a private talk, exclusive to guests as part of this experience, which will uncover the many fascinating facts about the guns found aboard the ship.
Learn about the crewmen who operated the many guns aboard, the officers in charge, the guns themselves, their use and design. From handheld muskets, gun shields and hail shot to huge bronze and iron guns; explore the range and shear force of the guns onboard, where they were positioned, where we found them and more.
What to expect:
- Behind the scenes tour led by costumed expert guide
- Guided tour of the Mary Rose Museum and access to view our Archive - not normally on display to the public
- Witness and participate in a simulated gun drill, using our full-scale replica port piece and equipment
- A break with refreshments (tea, coffee, water), served in our private Wardroom suite, with access to our Bridge Balcony overlooking Portsmouth harbour
