Over 700 people were accused of witchcraft, in East Anglia, during 1560 and 1675 – more than any other county! Why? Women learnt about plants and how they could cure – people were often jealous of their healing skills. Essex was a poor county awash with superstition.
Peggy makes this serious subject both interesting and humorous.
