About this Event
Join our interactive storytelling session as we row across the Kallang River while learning more about the stories of Singapore. Led by storyteller Hafiz Rashid, this intimate session brings coastal folklore to life through tales, shared memories, and oral traditions once carried across rivers and seas between communities of the wider Nusantara.
Featuring stories of Hang Tuah and the White Crocodile of Singapura, the session invites families and visitors of all ages to listen, imagine, and reconnect with the richness of storytelling. Through voice, memory, and myth, discover how these stories continue to shape cultural connections across land and water in a warm and welcoming space.
Programme details:
Tales of the Sea: The Legend of Hang Tuah & The White Crocodile is a boat and storytelling session for those aged 13 and above. Through interactive and engaging storytelling, participants will get a unique experience and gain insights into the maritime heritage of Singapore. The session will take place on a boat. Each session is 1 hour 30 minutes and includes a 30-minute safety briefing before the session begins.
Venue: In front of Water Sports Centre
Please report 15 minutes before the stipulated session time
*Advisory Note:
Minimum Age: Participants must be 13 years old and above (as of programme date).
All participants must be able to fit into a Personal Floatation Device (PFD).
Attire: Sports attire with footwear (T-shirts, shorts and slippers are recommended)
Things to bring: Water bottle, sunblock and an extra set of clothes to change
All participants are required to complete and submit the electronic Indemnity and Consent
to Photography & Video form that will be sent in the order confirmation email. Once submitted, please screenshot the confirmation page showing the unique form code and present it to the organisers on the event day for mandatory verification before participation. For participants aged 18 and under, the parents or guardian of such participant must complete the indemnity form.
