An epic adventure through the Arctic's Northwest Passage with Mark Agnew - it's going to be wild! Polar bears, storms, sea ice and history
About this Event

Join us for Tales of the Arctic's Northwest Passage with Mark Agnew! Mark Agnew and three teammates made history when they became the first people to kayak The Northwest Passage.

Now hear the story behind the headlines. Mark and the Arctic Cowboys were trapped by ice, faced down polar bears, battled through storms and waves and suffered the harshness of an Arctic winter to etch their names in the history books.

The talk has beenc called “Outstanding. The best talk of its kind I’ve ever heard," by Saga audiences and “Dramatic, amusing, exciting," by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society.

But Mark says it's about more than the accolades, it is about the experience and sharing the experience with his teammates. Intrinsic motivations, like being immersed in nature and cammardirie, are far more important than one single outcome. Focusing on instrinic movitivations empowers us all to enjoy adventures and forget about records and external praise. It took going to the Arctic for Mark to learn this.

The event will take place at Snow Peak UK, London. There is a free beer per person waiting for you.

Mark has partnered with Snow Peak for this talk as their concept of adventure matches his. Both understand that it is not about world records and newspaper headlines, adventure is about being immersed in nature as a core intrinsic motivation. We can all be "inspired by being with nature", as Snow Peak's Mission Statement reads, by letting go of the outcome and focusing on the experience.

Snow Peak's London store is just a few hundred metres away from the statue of Sir John Franklin, famed for going missing in the Northwest Passage and immortalised by countless retelling's of his story, including the recent BBC drama The Terror and Michael Palin's best seller Erebus.

Don't miss this opportunity to be inspired by Mark's incredible historic adventure!

Doors open at 6:30, the talk will start at 7pm and last 45 minutes. There will be time for questions at the end.
