"Tale of Stubble and Strength" is a monologue performance uplifting the voices of male survivors of sexual assault.
About this Event

"Tale of Stubble and Strength" is a joint initiative between PEI Rape and Sexual Assault Centre, PEERS Alliance, and local playwright and director Benton Hartley. This theatre production aims to raise awareness surrounding the stories of male survivors of sexual violence.

This event is inspired by the feedback gathered during the 2023 Sexual Assault Awareness Week, which highlighted a lack of representation of the lived experiences of male survivors, this event seeks to fill that gap.

Join us on May 15th and 16th during Victims and Survivors of Crime Week at the Guild, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm for an evening of a found text performance that incorporates aspects of theatre, journaling, film, and literary narratives. The stories told reflect both fictional accounts and lived experiences. Following the performances, there will be a panel discussion to delve deeper into the nuances of the stories shared. Additionally, guests are invited to enjoy a meal served in the Hilda Woolnough Gallery during the intermission.

Tales of Stubble and Strength is a free event, but we will be accepting donations at the door to support continued community education.

This event is happening as part of Victims and Survivors of Crime Week from May 12th to 18th and is funded through the Government of Canada.
