About this Event
Following the success of last year’s two week festival of new and emerging Black work and artists, Talawa Firsts festival is returning.
This July at our base in Croydon, Talawa Theatre Company will host two amazing weeks of new work, workshops, rooftop club nights, their first Don’t Flick short film screenings and more, themed around obsessions and chance encounters, encouraging all festivalgoers to stay curious!
First Things First: A scratch night in two parts, showcasing excerpts of the plays developed by the 2024 cohort of Talawa’s Introduction to Writing Group, led by Michelle Matherson. The two-part event will feature play-in-a-day readings from each play, directed by New Work Associate malakaï sargeant & guest director Jessica Mensah.
This is a "Pay What You Can" event - as such, tickets can only be booked one entry at a time. Please complete multiple bookings if you require more than one entry to this event.
All contributions of any size are welcome to support our new artist programme.
