Greetings mic-takers!The season turns, and this month it's a joy to welcome once again the marvellous, warm and witty Daphne Milne to the TTM top slot.
For those who don't already know, Daphne is a Topsham-based, poet, fiction writer, painter and jazz fan. Daphne's latest collection, Behind Prim Suburban Walls, is the joint winner of this year's prestigious Brian Dempsey Memorial Prize.
"The humour in Daphne Milne's poems offers quiet surprises - and occasional dark turns - as she turns her attention to the seasons of weather and life. She is a rewardingly sharp observer of love, money, and the amount of human effort invested in both charity and snobbery. Her work brings a powerful sense of generations, of loss and continuity. Her gaze remains steady and perceptive, open to the pleasure and absurdity of experience. Strong, at times unsparing, Daphne Milne's poetry safeguards hope." - Alison Brackenbury
In addition to Daphne's 15 minutes (and FREE CHOCOLATE), there are sixteen 5 minute slots up for grabs - simply reply to this post to bag yours. It would be brilliant to see and hear you there.
I'm planning to finalise bookings by the evening of Sunday 14th and send out a draft running order on Monday afternoon.
Thanks you all, as always, for everything you do to make Taking the Mic such a warm, safe and welcoming place to conjure mouth magic!
All the poetry love
