About this Event
Welcome to Taking Auction!
We all want to make the world a better place!
But...what does that look like?We struggled with this question ourselves over the years, but when we read Peter Singer's book "The Life We Can Save", our eyes were opened to all that we can do to help our fellow human beings. This short video does a great job of summarizing the book, and capturing the reason why we're putting this event together.
Every day, 1 in 9 people can't meet their basic needs. Think: food. Shelter. And medicine. Most of these people are in far away places...and that can make world poverty seem like a distant, insurmountable problem. But it isn't! And actually, all it would take to cut global poverty in half would be a donation of $344 from every person in North America! And it's why this October 18th, we are creating an opportunity to make a difference for those who need it the most.
We will be gathering 150 people in the Danforth neighborhood for the fourth edition of Taking Auction - an incredibly fun evening that brings together locals and local businesses to raise money for an important cause.
The event features music, drinks, and the most exciting part: a LIVE auction with an amazing auctioneer!
All proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders, which is a charity that focuses on getting healthcare to people who are displaced by war and climate-related disasters. We've chosen Doctors Without Borders because they are world-renowned for their impact. They are experienced at working in difficult situations, and are on the ground where other organizations are not, providing life-saving vaccinations, safe drinking water, and medical care.
Join us for a fun-filled night with live music, drinks, and a LIVE auction of AMAZING prizes!
