About this Event
It is said that there are over a thousand varieties of sweet potatoes worldwide, each with a unique flavor, texture, and sweetness. Among them, Japan’s “Satsumaimo” varieties stand out, especially the extra rich and creamy Beni Haruka, known for its naturally dessert-like sweetness.
Grown in the volcanic soil of Kagoshima’s Sakurajima using specialized cultivation techniques, Beni Haruka has become one of Japan’s most popular sweet potatoes and is rarely found in the US. In this cooking workshop, held in collaboration with Minamihashi Shoji, a renowned sweet potato producer in Kagoshima Prefecture, you’ll get to taste this premium variety while learning how to make Taiyaki à la mode, the beloved fish-shaped Japanese pastry.
Whether you’re a foodie, a baking enthusiast, or simply curious about Japanese sweets, this class promises a fun and creative culinary adventure. Plus, you’ll have the chance to purchase Beni Haruka paste at a special price for your future baking projects!
We can’t wait to see you there and share this delicious experience with you.
