About the Workshop
This unique workshop series is designed for anyone interested in improving cardiovascular health naturally through Tai Chi. There is a growing body of medical research (including dozens of studies based at the Harvard Medical School) that support Tai Chi mind-body exercise as effective in improving heart health, reducing stress, and promoting overall wellness and psychological well-being.

Participants will be instructed in a simplified and easy to learn Tai Chi training program as outlined in the Harvard Medical School Guide to Tai Chi (authored by Dr. Wayne, the workshop leader). Experiential sessions will be interspersed with discussions summarizing clinical and physiological research on the health benefits of Tai Chi.

At the close of the workshop, participants will receive a DVD and book reinforcing the materials taught in the workshop, and will be advised on how to develop and integrate a regular practice of Tai Chi into their daily routines and.

Workshop Series Details

Session 1: Saturday, March 1, 2025, Time: 9:00 – 11:00 AM

Foundations of Tai Chi & Cardiovascular HealthLearn the basics of Tai Chi and the science showing how Tai Chi supports heart health. Focus on fundamental movements and breathing techniques.

Session 2: Saturday, March 15, 2025, Time: 9:00 – 11:00 AM

Deepening Your PracticeExplore more advanced movements to promote circulation, reduce stress, and support cardiovascular function.

Session 3: Saturday, March 29, 2025, Time: 9:00 – 11:00 AM

Creating a Heart-Healthy Tai Chi RoutineIntegrate movements learned in the previous sessions to create a sustainable practice for ongoing heart health benefits.

Enrollment Fee: $200 includes 6 hours of training, a signed copy of Dr. Wayne’s book, companion CD and access to on-line home exercises



About the Instructors

Peter Wayne, PhD, is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Director of the Osher Center for Integrative Health (jointly based HMS and Brigham and Women’s Hospital). His academic research focuses on evaluating how Tai Chi and related mind-body therapies clinically impact chronic health conditions including balance disorders, chronic cardio-pulmonary conditions, and musculoskeletal pain. He has served as a principal or co-investigator on more than 35 NIH-funded studies. Dr. Wayne also has 45 years of training experience in Tai Chi and Qigong and is an internationally recognized teacher of these practices. He is author of the award-winning book, Harvard Medical School Guide to Tai Chi.


Gloria Yeh, MD, MPH is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and is Director of the HMS Research Fellowship in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Yeh’s primary research focus is efficacy and mechanism of mind-body exercise in complex chronic illness. She is an internationally recognized leader in the field of mind-body research, including mindful movement and meditation. Dr. Yeh will discuss the science behind Tai Chi for cardiovascular health and stress management.
