About this Event

Tai Chi for Balance Class Series (hybrid: in person or virtual)


  • When: Tuesdays from 10:30am - 11:30am CT, from November 19th - December 17th, 2024 (no class on 11/26).
  • Location: Hybrid (in person or virtual options available - more info below)
  • Facilitator: Cindy Hui-Lio, EdD., Certified Tai Chi Instructor.



Description:

This class series focuses on Tai Chi-based movements and the principles of centering, grounding, coordinated movements, body awareness, full/empty, and intentional movements. The series is designed for those who want to improve stability and mobility and may be experiencing neurological conditions, vertigo, vestibular issues, pain, movement disorder, or arthritis. Suitable for individuals experiencing challenges with balance.



This class is a part of our "M1" and "M2" Suitability Code Categories on our Movement Class Suitability Guide (see below).

M1 classes are suitable for those with some physical limitations and those new to the practice. Modifications available if support of a chair or the wall is needed. M2 classes are suitable for those comfortable moving independently.

How our hybrid offerings work:

• We will schedule the class as virtual in the MyHealth at Vanderbilt Patient Portal, but you have the choice with each session if you prefer to do in-person or Telehealth.

In-person classes sessions will occur at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Vanderbilt. We are located at 3401 West End Avenue, Suite 380, Nashville TN 37203. Parking is behind the building. We will provide parking validation. The building is owned by Highwoods Properties, and it looks like a corporate office. Should you need assistance in getting to our center, you can call 615-343-1554.

Virtual class sessions will be accessible through the My Health at Vanderbilt portal (available through the internet and/or our app. More info will be provided to join class upon registration.

• You do not need to notify our center regarding in-person or virtual attendance. We are ready for you virtually or in-person! It is totally up to you.



Cancellation policy:

Participants may cancel up to one week before start date without penalty, after that date, there is a 20% cancellation fee. No refund is available after the class start date.
