About the Tutor
Studio Boey is a leading designer specialising in designing from a sense of touch. In order to challenge the cliche of inclusive design, Boey took a down-to-earth approach and developed a unique Haptic Design method to create functions, shapes, and aesthetics from non-visual perspectives for all. He dedicated himself to spreading the methods into art and design education and also to the creative field to make it more inclusive.
His representative work, ‘Haptics of Cooking’ is a series of haptic cooking tools both for users who are visually impaired and able to see. The users could navigate through the cooking process intuitively and safely without seeing. It creates a sensory common ground for all. The project has won 15 top design awards internationally, such as Double IF Design Talent Award and the James Dyson Award, and has been exhibited around the world. He was supported by Talent Development Program from Creative Industry, the Netherlands. His practice was selected by Dutch Design Foundation as an example of future Dutch Design during Dutch Design Week 2022.
