About this Event
taca:kira:kʔickskwa:wa:stic / We had dreams: Art by Wichitas and Descendant
Join us at Tribes Gallery for an artist reception for this group art exhibition celebrating Wichita culture and community. Norman, Oklahoma, is within the historical homelands of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes (Wichita, Keechi, Waco, & Tawakonie), who have lived and farmed on the Southern Plains for centuries.
More than a dozen artists who are Wichita or of Wichita descent share their paintings, photography, beadwork, and mixed media. This exhibition was co-curated by Robin Williams (Wichita/Caddo/Comanche), the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, and America Meredith (Cherokee Nation), editor of First American Art Magazine.
Reception: Saturday, January 11, 2:00 pm | firstamericanartmagazine.com/wichita
OKC Indian Art Club Talk: Sunday, January 19, 2:00 pm
Light refreshments available. Meet the artists! Free and open to the public.
