About this Event
Explore the waters of the Tāwharanui Marine Reserve with an experienced snorkel guide; come and see what you can spot? Discover huge tāmure, eagle rays, red moki, leather jackets and more! Fun for the whole whānau with the rest of the park to explore before or after your snorkel. We will have the awesome team from TOSSI with their fabulous education trailer on hand to share their extensive knowledge of the park and the wildlife that call this place home. Sea conditions permitting. Postponements via email, on eventbrite and facebook page.

When:
Saturday 30th November (Back up date TBC) 10.30am - 3.30pm
Where:
Anchor Bay, Tāwharanui Regional Park, end of Takatu Rd, follow the EMR signs
Timings:
Intermediate & Advanced group : 10.30am - 12.00pm
Beginers group: 12.30pm - 2.00pm
Beginers & Intermediate group: 2.00pm - 3.30pm
Preregistration recommended. We will accept walk up during the day, however if we are busy there may be long waits as we try to get everyone exploring the reef!
Group definitions:
Beginners group - First time snorkellers, non swimmers or low confidence swimmers welcome.
Intermediate/Advanced groups - This group is for people who have snorkelled at least once or twice before, and have moderate swimming ability or above.
Please note this is a no dog area. The park is pest free and home to some endangered nesting birds, especially in the sand dunes and along the beach. Please be rspectful of signs and fences and report any damaging behaviour to crew. Make sure you take all rubbish home with you. This is a marine reserve so leave all shells/sticks and of course marine life behind where it belongs :)
Bring your own gear or get free hire of our mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuits.
Recommended for everyone 4 years and up. All children under 14 years or under must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Experienced guides and advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day.
Experiencing Marine Reserves runs a series of free and subsidised events throughout the year - we rely on your support to make them happen. We appreciate donations, either cash/eftpos on the day, online or by giving a koha of your time volunteering at a future event.
