Cyborg Octopus is returning from the depths to bring their newest album “Bottom Feeder” on September 27th. Their sound is as strong and refined as it has ever been. They have been an established act in the Bay Area since 2011, growing their audience with high energy live shows and experimental music that mixes the heaviest of metal with groove influenced by countless other genres.
Established by multi-instrumentalist Kyle Schaefer -vocalist of Fallujah, ARCHAEOLOGIST is either a band, a solo project, or something in between, and has already featured a variety of different collaborators over the years. The current album is called “Elements”, consisting of 20 instrumental, guitar-centered songs with an overall playing time of 41 minutes, which might be a bit unusual for a prog release. But as the title says, these are “Elements”, and most of the rather short tracks were written and recorded within a single day as an exercise of unrestrained spontaneity.
TÓMARÚM exists as a sonic vessel used to explore the mental void left by extreme emotional pain. The progressive black metal duo from Atlanta tackles topics such as depression, anxiety, loss, and worthlessness over songs inspired equally by atmospheric black metal and technical death metal: melancholy, tremolo picked chords, aggressive pedal-point riffs and shred solos galore glide over precise and dynamic drumming, and are further accentuated by fretless bass, tasteful orchestrations, and a wide variety of vocal styles.
