Niby z tradycjami sięgającymi czasów dackich, ale jednak z najlepszymi informatykami w Europie, niby z winem hodowanym od tysiąca lat, ale jednak także z wielkimi zasobami rudy miedzi. 🟡 O takiej Rumunii będziemy opowiadać na wystawie „Śmiejąc się jednym, płacząc drugim okiem”, prezentującej dzieła z kolekcji Ovidiu Şandora – jednej z najciekawszych prywatnych kolekcji sztuki w Europie Środkowej.
🟥 Kluczem do niej jest „śmiech przez łzy” – râsu-plânsu, czyli postawa, często przypisywana Rumunom, polegająca na akceptacji złego losu i niewzruszonym trwaniu na przekór przeciwnościom.

🔷 Nestled in the heart of Central Europe, yet connected to a Romance language; situated by the beautiful blue Danube, but close to Turkey and Russia. While it boasts a heritage dating back to the Dacian times, it is also home to some of the best IT specialists in Europe. Romania has been cultivating wine for a thousand years, yet it also possesses vast copper ore resources.
🟡 This is the Romania we will showcase at the exhibition "Laughing with One Eye, Crying with the Other," featuring works from the collection of Ovidiu Şandor—one of the most intriguing private art collections in Central Europe.
🟥 The key concept is "crying through tears"—râsu-plânsu—an attitude often attributed to Romanians, which involves accepting misfortune and steadfastly enduring adversity.

🎨Grotesque, absurdity, eclecticism, powerful individual voices, and collectives active after 1989—all this and more can be found at the exhibition. Works by artists such as Constantin Brâncuși, Victor Brauner, Geta Brătescu, Adrian Ghenie, Lea Raşovszky, Joan Miró, Ciprian Mureșan, Tristan Tzara, and many others will be on display!
🎥 The exhibition is part of the Cultural Season Poland-Romania 2024-2025 and has been prepared in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw.
