When Tammy started her business in 2005, she couldn’t have imagined that one day she’d have a business in multiple locations and manage a team of 12 as CEO of one of South Australia’s most progressive and largest conveyancing brands.
But she did have a clear goal from the start – to build a thriving business that wasn’t dependent on her working 60 hour weeks for its long-term success and to create an asset that she could sell when she was ready to retire.
Like many business owners, in the early stages, Tammy was a single operator. She acted as conveyancer, bookkeeper, receptionist and cleaner. But as her reputation for service grew and so did her business.
Tammy’s business was nominated for several awards over the years, but despite the awards and accolades, her objective was always to build a business she could step away from to spend time with her family.
Tammy was continually asked how she managed to take months away from her business without taking her phone or laptop with her business still running successfully. During her time as owner of Tuckfield Conveyancing, Tammy worked an average 11 hour week and never more than a 9 to 5 day, finishing work on time every day to get home for dinner with her family thanks to the operational systems and business structure she put in place to delegate effectively and with confidence.
In 2019 Tammy successfully sold her business and is once again a solopreneur, supporting other business owners through her Tammy's Table mastermind groups and one-to-one coaching, and she still relies on systems to ensure her business runs efficiently as she enjoys the freedom and flexibility of semi-retirement.
