The University of Northern Iowa College of Social & Behavioral Sciences, Educational Opportunity Center and Center for Urban Education welcome Iowa social workers, community service providers, health care professionals and educators to participate in the 2024 System of Support Conference.The conference will feature university and community experts from University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls and Waterloo Human Rights Commission, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Iowa Child Care Resource Referral, Operation Threshold, One City United and IowaWORKS.
Sessions include: "Protected classes: know your rights as an employee; know what to do as an employer," "Introduction of Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services," "Child Care 101," "Operation Threshold: Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS)," and "How personality traits impact burnout and stress," and "Equal employment for all."
The conference’s morning keynote “Status of workforce in the Cedar Valley: what labor market information tells us,” will be delivered by Ryan Murphy, Gina Robinson and Karen Siler of IowaWORKS. An afternoon panel on “Inclusion and Retention Best Practices in the Workplace," will include panelists Sonja Lee Bock from the Executive and Advocacy Committee and Drake, T.W. Ingham from the Cedar Falls Human Rights Commission, and Rebecca Johnson from Waterloo Human Rights.
