🎶 SYNTHS & SANDS AOTEA, GREAT BARRIER ISLAND🎶
Watch the sun go down and party the night away at the Gt Barrier Is Sports & Social Club, Aotea, Great Barrier Island.
Featuring Automatic 80s with special guests Shallow Dive
+ Local Aotea Artist – To Be Announced
New Zealand's own AutoMatic80s is more than just a tribute band—they're a high-energy musical force that brings the vibrant sounds of the 1980s back to life with stunning authenticity and flair. Known for their bold setlists featuring iconic artists like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, and Tears for Fears, AutoMatic 80s transform every stage they step onto into a time capsule of synth-driven nostalgia.
Automatic 80s is a world class group of musicians featuring the astonishing sound alike vocals and high energy stage antics of front man Justin Maclaren, backed up by the pitch perfect Pearl Runga (sister to Boh & Bic), Drummer Sam Edgar, Lead guitarist Ryan Wood and Bassist Simon Finnel.
Joining them are rising stars Shallow Dive, a three-piece alternative indie rock band formed by current students of Whangaparāoa College and Long Bay College. Finalists in the RockQuest North Shore region and winners of Best Use of Electronic Assistance, the band channels the energy of Bloc Party, The Cure, Interpol, and The **.
Fronted by singer/bassist D’Angelo Maclaren, who grew up immersed in music and performance while touring with his parents Pearl Runga and Justin Maclaren (Automatic 80s), and influenced by his aunt Bic Runga and uncle Andrew Maclaren (Stellar), Shallow Dive brings raw talent, a fresh sound, and a serious 80s-inspired edge.
We’re also working through securing a local Aotea artist to kick off this magical evening of music—more details to come soon.
