Symposium: Stories of Cotton Explore the narratives surrounding Cotton: labour, land and body with a host of makers and thinkers from the world of contemporary craft
About this Event

Join for this half-day series of talks to explore the themes of the Crafts Council Gallery’s current exhibition . Artists, designers and curators will explore the colonial trade in cotton, spanning from the Caribbean to South Asia; the physical experience of weaving; and the role of the material in our future as the fashion industry strives to reduce its environmental impact. The event will be followed by a drinks reception, and the talks will also be live-streamed online.

Speakers include artists Michael McMillan, Bharti Parmar, Hetain Patel and Brigid McLeer; curators Christine Checinska, Dominique Heyse-Moore, Rose Sinclair and Uthra Rajgopal; fashion designer Nicholas Daley and fashion lecturer Dal Chodha.

The online stream of this event will feature automatic closed captions. Please note: this event will be recorded.
