About this Event
Sustainability within healthcare is driving hospitals to provide high-quality healthcare services while minimizing their environmental impact, promoting social equity, and maintaining economic viability over the long term. Hospitals have a significant impact on the environment, consuming large amounts of energy and water, generating significant amounts of waste, and contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. It is essential for hospitals to adopt sustainable practices to reduce their environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable healthcare system.
Some examples of sustainable include:
- Energy reduction by improving building insulation, using energy efficient lighting and appliances, and optimizing heating & cooling systems
- Water Conservation by using low-flow fixtures and optimizing irrigation systems
- Waste reduction by implementing recycling programs and reducing packaging waste
- Procurement by purchasing environmentally friendly products through the supply chain
